捺染手ぬぐい「見得Ⅱ」
歌舞伎独特の演技法「見得」を熟練の職人が捺染てぬぐいに染め上げました。合羽摺版画家・高橋宏光による原画シリーズです。
「見得」は、静止することで体を彫刻のように美しく見せます。決まった瞬間、歌舞伎役者は目を寄せてにらみ、「ツケ」の音が入り、歌舞伎の演目の見せ場の一つとなります。江戸の荒事から生まれたといわれ、「元禄見得」「石投げの見得」「柱巻きの見得」「横見得」「天地の見得」「不動の見得」など、さまざまな型があります。
手拭に込められた縁起の良い意味と共にお正月飾りやお年賀、誕生日プレゼントや出産祝い・初節句祝いなどおめでたい時節のプレゼントにおすすめ。また、日本の伝統工芸品「手拭」は外国の方へのギフトやおみやげにも喜ばれます。

Nassen Tenugui : Mie
This tenugui features a dynamic portrayal of “mie”, a powerful and stylized pose unique to kabuki theater, hand-dyed by skilled artisans using nassen, a traditional surface dyeing technique. In this method, color is carefully hand-applied to the surface of the fabric using stencils, allowing for crisp, detailed patterns and vibrant expression. The original artwork comes from a series by kappazuri print artist Hiromitsu Takahashi.
In kabuki, mie is a dramatic still pose that turns the actor’s body into a sculpture-like form of beauty and strength. When a mie is struck, the actor fixes their gaze, often crossing their eyes, while the tsuke (wood clappers) accentuate the moment, creating one of kabuki’s most iconic highlights. There are various forms of mie—such as the Genroku mie, stone-throwing mie, pillar-wrapping mie, sideways mie, heaven-and-earth mie, and the immovable mie—each rooted in the vigorous style of Edo-period performance.
This tenugui carries auspicious meaning and is perfect as a seasonal New Year decoration, or as a gift for special occasions such as birthdays, baby celebrations, or hatsuzekku (first seasonal festivals). As a piece of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, it is also a well-received and elegant souvenir for international guests.
