手ぬぐい扇子「かまわぬ」
麻の葉オリジナルの手ぬぐい「かまわぬ」を扇面に使って制作したおしゃれな扇子です。
「鎌」「○（輪）」「ぬ」で「かまわぬ」と読ませる判じ物です。江戸時代の歌舞伎役者・七代目市川団十郎が、『累』の与右衛門を演じたとき衣裳に用いたことで流行した、江戸の遊び心溢れる粋な文様です。与右衛門の勇壮な姿からもうかがえる「細かい物事にこだわらず、弱きを助ける」という江戸の町人の心意気を表しているとされています。
ビジネスシーンやお出かけにはもちろん、和装時にもお使いいただけます。絵柄に込められた意味と共に、贈り物にするのもおすすめです。

Tenugui folding fan : Kabuki “Kamawanu”
This stylish folding fan features Asanoha’s original tenugui design “Kamawanu.”
The pattern is a classic hanjimono (a type of visual wordplay) from the Edo period, combining images of a sickle (鎌 / kama), a circle (輪 / wa), and the hiragana “nu” (ぬ) to spell out “Kamawanu.” This clever motif gained popularity when the famed kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjūrō VII wore it on stage as Yoemon in the play “Kasane.”
The phrase “kamawanu” loosely means “I don’t mind” or “never mind the details,” reflecting the spirited and generous heart of the Edo townspeople—always ready to help the weak without fuss.
