有松絞り 染色素材「あて布」
有松絞りの制作現場で、布全体にむらなく染料を行き渡らせるために、染色工程の中で用いられる素材「あて布」。
本来は完成品として表に出るものではなく、染めの工程を支える存在ですが、そこには美しい色や模様が残ります。染料のにじみや重なり、偶然に生まれた線や表情は、一つひとつ異なり、同じものはありません。
やわらかな布ならではの風合いと、制作の痕跡そのものを感じられるのが、有松絞りのあて布の魅力です。有松絞りのものづくりの過程から生まれた、希少な布素材としてお楽しみいただけます。
そのまま飾ってテキスタイルとして眺めたり、小さく切ってコースターや布小物にしたり、ハンドメイドやパッチワークの材料として使ったり。すぐに形にしなくても、どんなふうに生かそうかと想像をめぐらせる時間そのものが、素材好きの方には楽しいひとときかもしれません。

Arimatsu Shibori Dyeing Material “Ate-nuno”
In the production of Arimatsu Shibori, a traditional Japanese dyeing technique, ate-nuno is used during the dyeing process to help distribute color evenly across the entire fabric.
Although it is not intended to be seen as a finished product, ate-nuno plays an essential supporting role in the dyeing process. Yet, it retains beautiful colors and patterns. The subtle bleeding and layering of dyes, along with lines and textures formed by chance, give each piece its own unique character—no two are ever alike.
The soft texture unique to fabric, combined with the visible traces of the making process, is what makes ate-nuno so appealing.
It offers a rare opportunity to enjoy a textile material born from the craftsmanship of Arimatsu Shibori.
It can be displayed as a textile piece, cut into coasters or small fabric items, or used for handmade projects and patchwork. Even without turning it into something specific, simply imagining how you might use it can be a quiet pleasure for those who appreciate textiles and craft materials.
