手ぬぐい「鳥獣戯画(ベージュ)」 原画：影山のり子
京都・高山寺に伝わる国宝「鳥獣戯画」を再現した2023年の干支手ぬぐい。平安時代末期に鳥羽僧正が描き、うさぎやカエル、猿を擬人化しユーモアなキャラクターとして登場する絵巻物は日本の漫画の元祖とも言われています。鳥獣人物戯画の中から人気の「追いかけっこ」と「ご馳走」をてぬぐいに染め上げました。
干支の兎は子孫繁栄、家内安全、縁結びなどの願いが込められた神さまの遣いとされています。また、飛び跳ねることから飛躍や向上、長い耳から「良いニュースが入ってくる」幸運の象徴とされています。
新年のお年賀や卯歳に生まれた子供への出産祝いや初節句祝い、日本の伝統工芸品「手拭」は外国の方へのギフトやおみやげにも喜ばれます。

Tenugui “Choju Giga (Animal Caricatures)”
This tenugui is based on the national treasure “Choju-Giga (caricatures of birds and animals)” at Kozanji Temple in Kyoto.
It is said to have been drawn by Monk Toba at the end of the Heian period (794-1185), personifying the world and people of the time. The personification of rabbits, frogs, and monkeys, as well as expressions similar to the effects of today’s manga, make it the oldest manga in Japan, and it is a masterpiece that is popular not only in Japan but also overseas.
The pattern that appears on the front changes depending on how it is folded, so it is fun to fold it so that your favorite animal is visible and carry it around as a handkerchief. It also makes a wonderful interior decoration when framed and displayed.
