手ぬぐい「せり出し・廻り道具」 原画：雁千穂
「せり」と「廻り舞台」は、歌舞伎に欠かせない舞台機構。昔は、舞台の下で何人もの大道具方が心棒を手に、人力で動かしていた。「せり」は大道具や役者を乗せて上り下りさせる仕掛け。舞台が回って観客の目の前に次の舞台が現れる「廻り舞台」は、今や世界の劇場で取り入れられているが、実は日本で初めて考えられた装置である。
