手ぬぐい「敬天愛人」 原画：四季
「敬天愛人（けいてんあいじん）」とは、西郷隆盛の思想や信念を要約した言葉です。
「天を敬い、己を律し、天の心を持って人を愛する」という意味で、現在も座右の銘とする人が多くいます。西郷隆盛自身の筆墨を手ぬぐいに仕立てました。勢いのある筆使いや墨のかすれ具合を、熟練の職人の技術によって見事に再現しています。
地色の茶も美しく、シンプルながら力強い手ぬぐいです。額に入れて飾ると古風で存在感あるインテリアになります。

Tenugui “Calligraphy “Keiten Aijin””
The phrase “Keiten Aijin” is an expression of Saigo Takamori’s thoughts and beliefs.
Saigo Takamori was active from the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji period. He is a popular Samurai whose way of life is still loved by people today.
It means, “Respect the heavens, discipline yourself, and love others with the heart of the heavens,” and is still used by many people today as their motto. We have reproduced Saigo Takamori’s own brush and ink on a Tenugui.
