Art Tenugui "Carp Streamers"

There is a custom to put up carp streamers (Koi Nobori) on Boy’s Day Festival to wish the boys in the family grow up healthy and strong, which has become popular since the Edo period. The custom is associated with the Chinese legend that only the carps which swim up the waterfall, called Gate of Dragon, become dragons.
